Algebraic manipulation, rearranging, factorising, algebraic fractions and each student’s personal repair list.
Indices, surds and exact values
Fractional and negative indices, simplifying surds, rationalising denominators and preserving exact answers.
Quadratics as a connected topic
Expanded, factorised and completed-square forms; solving methods, roots, turning points and graph connections.
Functions, graphs and transformations
Function notation, evaluating functions, transformations, simple inverses and interpreting graphical changes.
Trigonometry, proof and communication
Exact values, multiple solutions, quadratic trigonometric equations and writing convincing mathematical arguments.
Readiness assessment and study system
Final assessment, error correction, the 24–7–30 review cycle and an individual plan for the next six weeks.

More than six extra maths lessons
The Launchpad combines mathematical teaching, deliberate practice, progress information and the routines students need to manage a demanding A-Level course.
Lessons are designed around the transition problems students repeatedly experience between GCSE and A-Level Maths.
Practice moves from fluency to application, reasoning and mastery rather than relying on disconnected worksheets.
The initial diagnostic and final assessment make strengths, improvements and remaining priorities visible.

Frequently asked questions
Does the diagnostic commit us to the programme?
No. The diagnostic is free. The recommendation will be based on the student’s starting point and whether the Launchpad is genuinely suitable.
Is this a complete Year 12 A-Level Maths course?
No. It is a targeted transition programme focused on the high-value foundations that make the first term of A-Level Maths more manageable.
Which exam boards are covered?
The transition skills apply across the major UK A-Level Maths specifications. Exam-board-specific differences will be highlighted where relevant.
How much independent work is expected?
Students should expect regular weekly practice. Approximately 30–45 minutes is a sensible minimum, although individual repair work may vary.
What happens if a lesson is missed?
Lesson resources and a recording will be shared where appropriate. Individual replacement lessons are not included.
Can the student continue after the six weeks?
Every student receives an individual recommendation. Suitable routes may include an ongoing A-Level group, a monthly clinic or targeted one-to-one support.
